Each year at Bright Futures we hold our ‘Big Thank You’ day as a way of reflecting on all the amazing
things that our colleagues achieve, and saying a huge thank you to our staff for the things they do
for the people we support. Across Bright Futures there were many different celebrations. From a
‘big breakfast’ at Willow Tree School, to brews and cakes on arrival at work, and personalised thank
you cupcakes.
Over at one of our children’s homes we hosted our very own ‘Big Thank You Awards Ceremony’ during our monthly staff meeting. The Registered Manager Alisha made sure that on arrival the staff were
asked to write a thank you message that could be shared with their team. The staff had commented
on each other’s ‘teamwork’ ‘supportiveness’ and ‘helpfulness’ and ‘willingness to learn and develop’,
not to mention the ‘happiness and positiveness’ that is always promoted. The staff team were all
awarded with an individualized certificate and a trophy to say thank you for the truly amazing work
that they do, awards included ‘Bright Beginner Award’ ‘Amazing Addition Award’ and ‘Count on me
Award’. They spent time commemorating the last 6 months by discussing achievements for the young
people, colleagues as individuals and the team as a whole. This is what Alisha had to say about it:
“As a manager I feel it is important to give thanks to the staff team as this gives them a sense of
belonging, a feeling of empowerment, and value. Saying the word ‘thank you’ to someone is truly
motivating and encouraging, and helps people to have a sense of pride in the work they do. It is
important that they know how being the wonderful people that they are effects the difference they
make to children, which is truly amazing. Big thank you day was once again a huge success, and it is
so lovely to take time as an organization to go above and beyond to say a huge thank you to all of our
amazing colleagues.”
