First thing’s first, we have some really exciting news: we are officially opening a brand new school. And for this new school, we are on the lookout for new teaching assistants.
SEN Teaching Assistants
When it comes to mainstream education, teaching assistants are on hand to help those pupils that may need extra support in class. This is a great way of ensuring everyone gets the help they need and is able to achieve what they want.
In schools specialised for those with learning disabilities, teaching assistants have a very important role to play. They bridge the gap between the lesson the class is learning and any extra needs their pupils might have. This may mean working with one pupil individually, or with a small group.
Depending on the needs of the pupils you are helping, they may be tasked with reading tasks aloud, or helping to explain tasks in a different way. Either way, the essence of the job is simple: to help make sure every student in our school is excited and happy to learn.
At Bright Futures Care, our students struggle with a range of sensory, intellectual and physical disabilities. So, our teachers need to be able to adapt their lesson plans and activities to suit everybody.
With the help of teaching assistants in every classroom, this becomes a lot easier. They are able to work alongside specific pupils to find ways of ensuring everybody learns in a way that suits them.
How To Become A Teaching Assistant
To become a teaching assistant, you’ll need to have entry-level maths and English qualifications. But most of all, you’ll need to be excited about working with children to help them achieve their goals.
To take your education further, you’ll have the option to complete Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 qualifications at college. On top of this, a great way to gain more experience in this job role is to complete as much work experience as possible.
At Bright Futures, we offer on-the-job training. So, you don’t have to know everything; you just have to be excited to learn. We are always on the hunt for people who are excited to do the most they can to help the people surrounding them, be it students and colleagues alike. If that sounds like you, we certainly want to hear from you!
